My name is Veraina and I live in one of Australia’s most iconic towns, Alice Springs; a town of around 30,000 people and 1500 kilometres from the next biggest city. That’s a 14 hour drive on good roads for most people.

I will soon have brain surgery to clip an aneurysm before it has a chance to rupture. After years of health issues, injuries, long recoveries and (hopefully) lessons learned, I decided to document this journey, because I am nervous about the surgery and writing provides me an outlet. I also hope that perhaps my story will be useful to anyone else that has to contemplate a significant medical procedure.
